July 2017, Bandar Lampung City experienced deflation of 0.09 percent due to the decline of Consumer Price Index (CPI) from 130.62 in June 2017 to 130.50 in July 2017. Two expenditure groups contributed to deflation in Bandar Lampung City, the group Foodstuffs contribute to 0.17 percent deflation; And the transport, communication & financial services group by 0.19 percent. In contrast, four expenditure groups contributed to inflation, namely the group of processed foods, beverages, cigarettes and tobacco contributed to inflation by 0.09 percent; Housing, water, electricity, gas and fuel group by 0.08 percent; Education, recreation and sports group by 0.08 percent; And the health group by 0.02 percent. While the clothing group did not contribute to inflation.
Some of the dominant commodities contributed to deflation among others urban transport, red chili, garlic, onion, live chicken, jengkol, cayenne pepper, spinach, kale, and katuk leaf.
Based on the calculation of Consumer Price Index (CPI), Bandar Lampung's deflation occurred due to the decrease of index in foodstuff category which experienced a decrease of index by 0,73 percent; Clothing by 0.02 percent; And transportation, communication & financial services group 1.19 percent. Conversely four groups experienced inflation, namely the group of finished food, beverages, cigarettes & tobacco by 0.54 percent; Housing, water, electricity, gas & fuel by 0.26 percent; Health group by 0.50 percent; And education, recreation & sports group 1.18 percent.
Bandar Lampung City's deflation is ranked 2nd of 82 cities observed by its price growth. Of 82 cities, 59 cities experienced inflation, and 23 cities experienced deflation. The highest inflation occurred in Bau-au at 2.44 percent, while the lowest inflation occurred in Meulaboh by 0.01 percent. In contrast, the highest deflation occurred in Merauke at 1.50 percent, and the lowest deflation occurred in Metro and Probolinggo by 0.07 percent.
Bandar Lampung City, in July 2017 based on the calculation of the inflation of the calendar year (point to point) is 2.51 percent and year on year inflation (yoy) is 4.47 percent.
